Here are some tips and tricks for Jetpack Joyride help to make sense of it all and get ahead. These Jetpack Joyride Tips can be updated daily so check back. Things can be a little tough for new players especially when all stats are recorded and shown publicly.
The highest score on the Game Center leaderboard for Jetpack Joyride is 30,000m. I used to think, ‘how could anyone possibly reach that point if the game is just going to progressively get faster and faster? That would require super human skills!’ Fortunately though, the game is easier than that. First of all, there’s a cap on the speed. Once you reach 7,000m, I think, the speed stops increasing, but the formation of zappers gets more crowded so it requires tighter maneuvering.
The farthest I could reach in Jetpack Joyride after about 1 day of time spent in gameplay is just over 10,000m. After reaching this point, 30,000m felt much more attainable.
So, here are some tips that will hopefully get you to 10,000m and beyond:
Choose the best loadout
You’ll need the right equipment to go the distance. And the best items for maneuvering and survival in this game are the following:
Airbarrys
Gravity belt
Machine gun jetpack
Here’s why: airbarrys and the gravity belt allow you to move up and down faster. This is crucial for sharp turns. As for the machine gun jetpack, I’m not sure if it’s better than any other jetpack, but according to its description in the game, it is “the original and the best”. It does feel slightly better than the other jetpacks, but that could just be my imagination.
Anyway, on to the next tip…
Look ahead!
This is the most important tip I have for you. This is the technique that I mostly credit my distance to. It’s simply this: while you’re flying, don’t look at Barry or his vehicle. Look ahead. Keep your eyeball on the right edge of your screen. This way, you’ll see zappers, missiles and stuff coming at you way ahead than if you had your eyeball on Barry in the left part of the screen. And I know what you will say to this, ‘but how will I know how close I am to zappers and missiles? HOW WILL I EVEN MOVE?’ My answer is, don’t worry. You’ll be fine. It’ll be awkward and uncomfortable in the beginning, but then you’ll notice how much your game has improved and you’ll always play like this. ‘But’, you might ask, ‘how will I collect coins and tokens when I’m not looking at Barry?’
Good question, and it brings me to the next tip.
Coins and tokens are designed to kill you
Seriously. If you play to collect coins and tokens, you won’t go far.
Before I started to try to reach a farther distance in the game, I was playing to collect coins and buy all the upgrades and widgets. I used the Gemology with Coin Magnet gadget to get rich quick, but once I bought everything and started to try for distance, I noticed how coins and tokens were distracting me and causing me unnecessary deaths. However, having enough cash is important, as you’ll see later, so I can’t just tell you to avoid collecting coins and tokens completely. Here’s one idea to balance the plate: draw a line in the sand as to at what distance you’ll stop following tokens and coins and focus completely on fatal objects. For me, the magic number is 3,000m. Once I reach it, I pretend that coins and tokens don’t exist and focus only on zappers, missiles, lasers, and vehicles. Your number could be lower or higher, but do set a number.
Always use a Head Start
The first 3,000m in the game are pretty boring. I wish you could buy a Head Start that cut through the first 3,000m, but there isn’t one. Super Head Start, as it’s called, only takes you the first 1,500m. It is what I always use. I never play a game from the very beginning. I buy a 5-pack of Super Head Start at 10,000 coins. That’s 2,000 coins a piece. Luckily, with the counterfeit machine, I average more than 2,000 coins per game. So, I can sustain this extravagant game lifestyle. If you’re not at this level yet, you can buy the normal Head Start 5-pack, which costs 3,000 coins only.
The Head Start utility is the reason collecting coins and tokens is important. (By the way, never cash in tokens. It’s much more profitable to play them.)
How to fly in the jetpack properly
You should try to stay in the middle. Don’t rise or sink sharply because it takes longer to recover from a sharp incline or a sharp drop. So, to avoid that, use very quick taps to maintain a static position as much as possible.
Keep a few revives and final blasts in your stash
On your way to breaking your own record, you might stumble and die. And what a sad ending that would be. To avoid this, keep a few revives and final blasts with you. That way, when you’re approaching your new record, you can be sure you have a few tools that will push you the extra needed distance.
Bonus tip: lasers should never kill you
I admit, I have been killed by lasers before. But with the tip that I’m about to give you, you should almost never die by a laser beam. When the laser pod thingies come hovering, fly up and rub your head on the ceiling. Now, if a beam is striking the top level, descend to the first safe level below it. Once the top level is safe again, ascend back to it while the other beams continue to hopelessly strike below you.
My favorite vehicle
Since I’ve written this whole article on Jetpack Joyride, I might as well share what my favorite vehicle is. It’s…can you guess?…the Profit Bird! Why? Because it has a funny name, which I think is a hat-tip to all the other bird-based games that are making millions, like Angry Birds and Tiny Wings. It’s as if this game wouldn’t have been successful without its own profit bird, lol! I also like the Profit Bird because it’s fun to control and fly. I think I achieved my second longest vehicle distance in the Profit Bird. My absolute longest distance is with the Crazy Freaking Teleporter, but that one is BORING to play with.
And that’s it! Feel free to post your own special tips here, or let me know if you disagree with a strategy you see here. I’m all ears
